Bringing Philly Culture to Conferences: Interactive Activations and Local Talent by Albrecht Events

Albrecht Events was tasked with designing an immersive and unforgettable experience for the closing components of a global professional association conference at the historic Bellevue Hotel. Drawing inspiration from Philadelphia’s vibrant cultural history, AE crafted a Philly-themed program featuring local artists and interactive activations that complemented a live performance by Philadelphia native DJ Jazzy Jeff.

The welcome area of the event space was transformed into a vibrant Philly streetscape with an “I Love Philly” graffiti wall. Complete with a corner-store façade, roll gate, faux sidewalk floor, and street sign poles marking the corners, this scene welcomed guests to the event and provided a photo op against the Philly neighborhood-themed backdrop.

The evening entertainment drew crowds, as a local Double Dutch troupe brought their infectious energy. The performers showcased their skills and invited attendees to hop in and participate. A local youth dance team delivered electrifying pop-up performances throughout the space. The group blended hip hop, breakdancing, and freestyle movement in their dynamic performances showcasing young talent and creativity.

Philadelphia artist, Alloyius Mcilwaine, captivated guests with a live painting session during the event. Known for blending graffiti and abstract art, he created a Fresh Prince–themed mural on site, inviting attendees into an interactive celebration of Philly art and style.

Adding a playful and nostalgic touch, a mobile photo booth allowed attendees to step into a retro 1980s scene. Accents for a vintage backdrop featured vibrant balloon clusters and oversized gold link mylar balloons resembling classic hip hop style gold chains. Guests snapped keepsake photos while fully immersing themselves in the event’s vibrant, interactive energy.

Through creative theming, local talent, and interactive experiences, Albrecht Events brought the spirit of Philadelphia to life, creating a memorable conference experience that engaged attendees and celebrated the city’s unique culture.
