Celebrating 50 Years with Experiential Event Design in Columbus, Ohio

Albrecht Events was engaged to design and execute the 50th Anniversary celebration of an educational technology company, hosted in conjunction with the annual National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) conference. The evening reception at Kemba Live in Columbus, Ohio welcomed more than 600 guests to honor the past, present, and future of the organization.

To build excitement and emotional connection beyond the company’s product, the Albrecht Events team developed a college-themed event experience that sparked joy, nostalgia, and school-spirit energy. Through event design, strategic branding, and custom branding elements, the venue was transformed into a campus-inspired setting that showcased the client’s identity in thoughtful ways. Brand colors and logos, lighting installations, and custom signage were incorporated throughout the space to celebrate the milestone anniversary.

Immersive Thematic Environments & Custom Brand Activations

Guests were greeted upon arrival with the energetic sounds of a local high school marching band, entering a venue of zones uniquely designed to evoke aspects of a collegiate experience.

“The Library” featured a sculptural bookshelf backdrop including leather seating and centerpieces of table lamps, novels, and apples, creating a refined, studious setting for conversation. A typist with a vintage typewriter crafted personalized haikus and poetry, providing an interactive touch that delighted attendees.

An athletics inspired section included lockers and sports equipment while custom felt banners adorned the central space, celebrating organizational achievements to contribute a visual tribute to school pride. A living brass baseball player statue and roaming entertainers, like a referee and cheerleader on stilts, provided memorable photo moments.

In “the laboratory,” metal tables and chairs and a hollow geometric bookshelf—the striking centerpiece of the space—were adorned with test tubes filled with liquids in the company’s brand colors, enhancing the theme and sparking nostalgic memories of Chemistry class.

Entertainment & Culinary Experiences That Elevated the Night

With Kemba Live designed specifically for music-driven events, the entertainment was curated to keep energy high from start to finish. Columbus-based DJ Dayna Soul delivered an unforgettable set that kept guests on the dance floor, while a surprise performance by The Ohio State University cheerleaders and their mascot Brutus generated crowd excitement.

The elevated college dining hall menu reinforced the theme with comfort favorites, accompanied by themed craft cocktails and outdoor food trucks serving ice cream and pizza for a late-night study-session feel. On the outdoor “quad,” guests enjoyed lawn games like cornhole and giant Connect Four, while the marching band continued performing.

Before departing, attendees visited the “campus bookstore” to choose from custom branded mementos such as koozies, socks, hats, and sunglasses—a thoughtful takeaway to commemorate 50 years of impact.
